Aged care delivered in Vietnamese, with Vietnamese food, with respect for Buddhist practice and family customs. My Evervale serves Melbourne’s Vietnamese-Australian community across Springvale, Footscray, Sunshine, Richmond and beyond.
For Vietnamese-Australian elders — many of whom arrived as refugees in the 1970s and 80s — care delivered in English by strangers is isolating. Care delivered in Vietnamese, by people who understand the food, the family structure and the cultural memory, is recognisably their own.
In Vietnamese culture, caring for elderly parents is a moral duty (chữ hiếu). We respect and support this — our role is to help families care for their elders, not to replace them.
We meet with the whole family at intake. We accept that important decisions take time — and may involve consulting elder relatives in Vietnam by phone. We’re patient with that process.
Many Vietnamese-Australian elders are Buddhist (often associated with the Quang Minh, Quang Duc or Hoa Nghiem temples in Melbourne) or Catholic (St Patrick’s Vietnamese Mass at Footscray, Vietnamese parishes at Sunshine, Springvale, Richmond). We support attendance, in-home prayer space, and where requested, end-of-life rites.
Bilingual care delivery is part of the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. There is no surcharge for a Vietnamese-speaking carer. We accept Home Care Packages, the Support at Home Program and self-funded clients.
Free, no-obligation assessment in your home. We work across all of greater Melbourne.
