Allied Health

Allied Health Aged Care in Melbourne

Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, dietetics and speech pathology — delivered in your home or in our residential facility. Coordinated within your aged care plan, funded through Support at Home or private fee.

Our Allied Health Team

Five disciplines, one coordinated
team

Allied health works best when it’s joined up. Our team coordinates with your GP, your nursing care and your family so therapies actually translate into outcomes.

Physiotherapy

Mobility, strength, falls prevention, post-hospital rehab, chronic pain. Home visits and clinic-based options.

Occupational Therapy

Home modification assessments, equipment prescription, cognitive strategies, return-to-activity programs.

Podiatry

Foot health, diabetic foot care, nail care, footwear advice. Critical for falls prevention in older adults.

Dietetics

Nutrition for chronic conditions, swallowing difficulties, weight management, meal planning.

Speech Pathology

Swallowing assessment and management, communication strategies, dementia-related speech changes.

Coordinated Care

Each therapy plan is shared with your GP, nursing team and family one record, one approach.

How allied health is funded

Allied health for older Australians can be funded through:

  • Support at Home Program included in the funded service mix from 1 July 2025
  • Commonwealth Home Support Programme entry-level allied health
  • Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan your GP can refer for up to 5 sessions per year
  • DVA for veterans and war widows/widowers
  • Private health insurance depending on your cover
  • Private pay if other options don’t apply

When to consider allied health

Allied health is most powerful when introduced early — but it’s never too late. Common triggers:

  • A fall or near-fall
  • Coming home from hospital
  • Difficulty walking or moving around the house
  • Foot pain or nail issues
  • Weight loss or appetite change
  • Coughing or choking on food/drink
  • New diagnosis of a chronic condition
