Aged care, explained.

Plain-English answers to the questions Melbourne families ask most about aged care, the new Aged Care Act 2024, the Support at Home Program, costs, and how to get started.

What aged care registration categories does My Evervale hold?

My Evervale is registered across all six service categories under the new Aged Care Act 2024: Category 1 (Home and community services), Category 2 (Assistive technology and home modifications), Category 3 (Advisory and support services), Category 4 (Personal care and care management), Category 5 (Nursing and transition care), and Category 6 (Residential care including specialised support). Read more on our Categories 1–6 page.

What is the Support at Home Program and when does it start?

The Support at Home Program replaces Home Care Packages and the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme from 1 July 2025. It provides funding for older Australians to receive personalised support at home including clinical care, assistive technology and home modifications. Learn more about our Support at Home service.

Which Melbourne suburbs does My Evervale service?

How do I refer a loved one to My Evervale?

You can complete our online Referral Form, request a place on our Facility Waitlist, or call our care line on Phone coming soon. A care coordinator will respond within one business day to discuss assessment, eligibility through My Aged Care, and next steps.

Is My Evervale a registered NDIS provider?

Yes My Evervale operates within both the NDIS Practice Standards and the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, supporting older Australians and people with disability across Melbourne.

Do you offer dementia and palliative care?

Yes. We provide specialised dementia care including secure environments, person-centred behavioural support, and dementia-trained staff. We also deliver palliative care in partnership with families and treating clinicians.

What is the difference between home care and residential aged care?

Home care (now delivered through the Support at Home Program) allows older Australians to remain in their own home with funded support. Residential aged care provides 24/7 accommodation, nursing and personal care in a registered facility. My Evervale offers both pathways — and helps families transition between them as needs change.

How much does aged care cost in Australia?

Aged care costs depend on the type of care, your assessed needs and your financial situation. The Australian Government subsidises most care, with means-tested contributions for some services. We publish transparent pricing and funding information and conduct a full costing during your initial assessment.

How does the My Aged Care assessment work?

Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to register, then an assessor (RAS for home support, ACAT for higher needs) will visit. The assessor determines the level of support funded by the government. My Evervale can guide you through this process call us if you need help getting started.

Can I move from home care to residential care if needs change?

Yes. Because My Evervale registers across all six categories, you can transition from home care to residential care without changing providers your care plan, clinical history and trusted relationships travel with you.

What languages does My Evervale support?

We hire locally from Wyndham and greater Melbourne, where our community speaks dozens of languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic, Italian, Greek and many others. Where bilingual staff aren’t available, we use the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National).

When is your residential aged care home opening?

What are the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards?
